Scarecorn Creek

Larry and I assembled a pack of kids..ranging in age from five to twelve and headed down to Big Scarecorn Creek. We had six adults, some in the lead to check the water, and some just dedicated to keeping an eye on every little head. Despite the drought, the creek was beautiful. And it was refreshingly cool. The kids found fresh water mussels, and I have a lovely new rock slab that my niece Alexandra found which I will turn into a serving tray for the ranch. It was the first time in the creek for all these children, some of whom live in suburbia. And the delight on their faces was a joy to see. It’s just challenging enough to be an adventure. After that, we brought everyone back to the big firepit and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. It’s an afternoon I will always remember.
