HAVE YOU READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?
At Seventy-four Ranch we love to read – we have lots of cozy corners in the Butler-Cape House and around the property to sit back and enjoy a good book. All of our rooms have a cozy reading corner to encourage our guests to sit back and get lost in a subject they enjoy. We are fortunate to have a wide selection of incredible books on subjects dear to our hearts: horses, ranching, western living, civil war history, southern history and fabulous fiction.
Each month, in “Book Nook” we’ll feature one of our great books – you may find one that you just have to sit down and read right away. Enjoy!
“Cowboy
Gear – A Photographic Portrayal of the Early Cowboys and their Equipment”.
Author and Photography by David R. Stoecklein.
This oversized, hard back book is chock full of color photos and prose of the cowboy and his life as well as chapters devoted to Cattle Drives, Bridles and Headstalls and Guns and Knives. The author gives the history of the origins and evolution of his subject matter. Read it in detail to learn the history, or enjoy viewing the photographs – either way it’s great.

Remnants".
