HAWKS BLUE SUE
“Blue”
Level: Beginner-intermediate-advanced Rider
Description: Blue, a beautifully muscled mahogany Bay, is the mother of Susie, Emma, Bengal, Little Miss, and Eclipse. She has been in western movies and with Larry on the History Channel. She is an excellent mother to her foals. She used to be Larry’s personal saddle horse and helped win many a team penning and steer roping. She has been our “go to” cow horse for 19 years. At almost every rodeo, someone would try to buy her as a foundation mare. Now she spends most of her life with foal or mothering a foal. she is still one of Larry’s favorite horses on the Ranch, and also one of the sweetest.  People of various ages can ride her because of her very good manners.

BLUES SIXOTE SUE
“Susie”
Level: Beginner-intermediate Rider
Description: An eight-year-old Sorrel mare, Susie is Blue’s first foal, sired by Sixote, son of the famous Doc Quixote of Buffalo, Wyoming. She is one of the horses of the Ranch that gets the most riding and attention because she is the school horse for lessons and such. She is also one of the friendliest horses on the Ranch because she has been around humans since the minute she was born. You could probably say that she favors humans over horses, and she loves to be groomed, fed treats, and showered off with a hose. Susie was imprint-trained, which means pam and Larry were in the stall when she was born; and they, with her mother, were Susie’s first sounds, smells, tastes and touches. Susie and all our horses are trained with this in mind. When this is reinforced in training, it makes our horses friendlier and more comfortable, calm and compliant with humans, as well as easier to shoe and medically treat.

BLUES BENGAL WONDER
“Bengal”
Level: Beginner Rider
Description: Bengal is Blue’s third foal and notably a tiger-striped Grullo Dun, sired by Big country wonder. He is Pam’s personal saddle horse, and is so very gentle that children as young as two are given rides on him. He is probably the friendliest of the horses on the Ranch because he is the one of the horses that when you go into the pasture to bring in the horses, he will be following you around begging for attention and a treat.

VERSARYS ACE
“Verse”
Level: Beginner-Intermediate Rider
Description: Verse is an eleven-year-old Sorrel Gelding and the biggest and most muscular horse on the Ranch. HE is one of the horses that Larry rides and was a rodeo team roping horse (header). He can be timid at first, but when he gets to know you, and you gain his trust, he is comfortable and calm. He is also can be worried at times, and doesn’t like to be caught. Verse would rather stand than walk, rather walk than trot.

BLUES EMERALD WONDER
“Emma”
Level: Beginner- intermediate Rider
Description: Emma, also Sired by Big Country Wonder, is Susie’s younger sister, and Blue’s second foal. She looks just like her mother, a well-muscled mahogany bay. She is also one of Larry’s personal horses that he rides, mostly in parades and trail rides. She also was born on the Ranch and imprint-trained. She loves attention, treats, and being groomed.

TORNADO
“Tony”
Level: Beginner- intermediate Rider
Description: Tornado aka Tony is a young, very friendly horse that will nudge you for attention, and is one of the horses in the pasture that will let you walk right up to him to give him attention or a treat. He used to be a Pony Club Hunter-Jumper, but when he grew taller, he became a small horse, so he can no longer be a Hunter-Jumper. He still absolutely loves to jump and go on trail rides.

ZEVIS ALMITEY
“Diamante”
Level: Experienced Rider
Description: Diamante/Diamond, a 6-year-old dark Bay Gelding, used to be an AQHA racehorse (speed index 89) when he was a two and three-year-old representing the Ranch. Now he is a working Ranch horse. Of the horses that Larry rides, He is the fastest horse on the Ranch. Some times he will still think it is race time and will want to bolt into a full gallop. Thus, the people that have ridden him have had at least 10 years experience or have been riding horses for most of their lives.

MOCHA
Level: Experienced rider
Description: Mocha, a tall three-year-old Paint-Quarter Horse mix Dun Gelding, is smart beyond his years. Menny, our Ranch foreman and horse trainer, has taught him to lie down, accept a rider and stand up with the rider on his back. This is a crucial and rare horse skill, Critical to a rider who is so injured that s/he cannot mount, who is alone and a long way from Ranch headquarters. Mocha would be extraordinarily valuable on our sister ranches in Wyoming, the One Diamond Bar and the Willow Creek Ranch at the hole in the wall where the hands are spread over 57,0000 acres by themselves.

SUES QUIXOTE
“Quixote”
Level: Intermediate- experienced Rider
Description: He is Susie’s one and only foal, a three-year-old Dun Gelding, and the grandson of Blue. He is the horse that likes hangING out with Bengal, who is his Uncle, but approximately the same age. They both bug you out in the pasture for attention or a treat. They both were imprint-trained on the ranch.

BUTCH
Level: very experienced rider
Butch is purely a cowboy’s horse. He is a six-year-old sorrel gelding that can be a challenge to anyone, anytime. He would be in the “rough string” on an Old West ranch. In other words, a very good horse hand would have had him in his string of cow ponies, and that hand would be paid extra money because he could ride that type of horse.

BLUE IDES OF MARCH
“Little Miss”
Level: In-training
Description: Little Miss is Blue’s fourth foal, a Bay filly who will be taller than her mother. She is still not through with her training so it will be a little while until she will be a horse that guests of the Ranch will be able to ride. She is a little bit on the shy side, but when she gets to know you and you gain her trust, she will warm right up to you.

DANDY BLUE ECLIPSE
“Eclipse”
Level: In-training
Description: Eclipse is Blue’s FIFTH and youngest foal, a filly sired by SW Docs Dandy Dan, who was born February 20, 2008. She is very independent and can often be seen way across the pasture from her mother, playing with her colt friend, Badger. She is a Palomino, and almost snow white.

STAR
“Estrella”
Level: In training
Description: Star is the two-year-old half-sister to Eclipse, and they could be twins. Both are almost pure white Palominos, Sired by SW Docs Dandy Dan. She is already well over 15 hands tall. Star and Eclipse will make a gorgeous team to pull the Ranch chuck wagon.

DOC I DUN IT
“Dunnie” or ”La Baya”
Level: Experienced Rider
Description: She is the mother of Wonder If Doc Did It and Doc Badger Dun It. She also is a very good mother to her foals. She is normally shy and aloof, but if you gain her trust, she can be a sweetie.

Dunnie’s Foal:
"Doc"
Level: In-training
Description: “Doc” is a yearling Sorrel Gelding and has just begun his training. Badger, Dunnie’s younger Dun colt, was just born February 11, 2008. He is a very sweet foal, who nuzzles you for attention. He loves to be around his mother most of the time, but when he is not spending time with Her, he is playing with his filly friend Eclipse, who was born nine days later.

Badger
2008 Foal
